I have a major love-hate relationship with my local grocery store. Sometimes I want to spend hours wandering the aisles, checking out new products and dreaming up recipes. On the other hand there is nothing worse than realizing halfway through dinner prep that I forgot to buy a crucial ingredient… and having to brave the after-work grocery crowd to find it!
One way I avoid last minute trips to the store is by choosing recipes for the week that call for the same or similar ingredients. Bonus points if I can find a way to use the ingredient in its entirety so I’m not stuck with a handful of something and no plans for it.
Walnuts are a great ingredient to base your weekly meal planning on because they are so versatile and tasty! Here’s a peek at the meals I have planned for next week. All of the recipes combined use up an entire one-pound bag of Diamond of California® Walnuts!
One Pot Butternut Squash Mac and Cheese with Walnuts
Flank Steak with Walnut Gremolata Butter
Toasted Walnut, Kale and Quinoa Salad with Maple Vinaigrette
Don’t forget about dessert! You’ll have just enough walnuts left over for these Decadent Frosted Brownies.
