Ingredients
- 1/2 cup finely chopped Diamond of California® Walnuts
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour, plus more for rolling
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, room temperature
- 2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 2 tbsp milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup prepared vanilla frosting
- assorted sprinkles and mixed chopped nuts
The Steps
- In a small bowl, combine the flour, baking powder and salt. Set aside.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the butter and sugar, beat until light and fluffy. Add the egg, mix until incorporated. Add the milk, vanilla and dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.
- Wrap dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
- Pre-heat the oven to 375 degrees.
- Transfer the chilled dough to a lightly floured surface. Roll out the dough to about 1/2 inch thick and then cut shapes. Transfer shapes to a parchment lined sheet pan and bake for 10 to 12 minutes.
- Allow cookies to cool completely before frosting.
- Use an off-set spatula or knife to spread the frosting on the cookies, then top with nuts and sprinkles.
