Fall is my favorite season for cooking and baking because it means I get to bust out my Crock Pot! Of course, nothing is stopping me from using the slow cooker year round but there is something about coming home on a chilly evening to a delicious smelling house that I love.

Admittedly, my slow cooker is primarily used for main dishes like chili or pulled pork, but I recently used it to make chocolate covered nuts (one of my favorite treats) and was not disappointed! In just two hours the nuts were perfectly toasted and covered in melty dark chocolate! Here’s how I did it:

Step One: Pick your ingredients

You’ll need 3 cups of nuts and 2 cups of chocolate chips. I used a combination of pecans, walnuts and almonds with dark chocolate. I suggest using dark or milk chocolate, as white chocolate tends to burn more quickly. If you do use white, check on it frequently and stir if needed to prevent burning.

Step Two: Layer the ingredients

Pour all of the nuts into the crock pot and spread them into an even layer. Pour the chocolate chips on top. Place the cover on the slow cooker and set the heat to low.

Step three: Wait two hours, then stir it up!

After two hours, the nuts will be nice and toasty and the chocolate will be melted. Use a wooden spoon to stir it all together until all of the nuts are coated with chocolate.

Step four: Make clusters

Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and scoop about 1 tablespoon of nuts onto the sheet to create a cluster, then sprinkle with a dash of sea salt. Repeat with remaining nuts before refrigerating for at least 1 hour.

Step five: Enjoy!
