Ingredients
- 2 sheets of frozen puff pastry, thawed
- 1 cup Diamond of California® Chopped Walnuts
- 2 tbsp cinnamon
- 1 tsp freshly ground nutmeg
- 1 cup sugar
The Steps
- Pre-heat the oven to 350 degrees, and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
- On a clean, dry surface, roll out both sheets of puff pastry.
- Sprinkle the walnuts evenly over the surface of both pieces of dough.
- Combine the cinnamon, nutmeg and sugar in a large bowl. Sprinkle half of the mixture over the walnuts and pour the other half on to a large plate or cutting board.
- Working with one sheet of dough at a time, roll both sides inward until they meet in the middle and form a heart-shaped log. Roll the log in the remaining sugar mixture to coat, then repeat with the second sheet of dough.
- Place the dough logs on a plate and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
- Once chilled, use a very sharp knife to slice each log into ½-1 inch pieces. Place sliced pieces on the prepared baking sheet, leaving about 2 inches between each piece.
- Bake for 20 minutes until pastry is golden brown and puffy.
